Mon Avis: Casino Royale

I will be short in writing about Casino Royale. Because it has nothing much to it. Few points though

1. If you dont like Bond movies with usual run-of- the mill plots and gadgets and cars etc, you would probably end up liking this one as
a) it has no bond gadgets (except one shock machine which is hardly a treat!! :( )
b) no bond car (Aston Le Mans racer is sexy but without the snazzy gadgets that are so previous bond cars)
c) Bond is a little too mushy for his girl, so unlike 007 Brosnan who had this naughty streak on him, ready to bed and shed the next day ..he he

2. The movie attempts to remain loyal to the first Ian Fleming's novel by the same name, all about Bond 's growth and learnings in his new 007 status

3. Fight sequences are good but nothing extraoirdinary. Just about comparable with last few bond movies

4. Bond girls are dishy and downright luscious but again too sketchy characters

5. Daniel Craig is a treat to watch. With a debonairly suave attitude he is a bond minus mischieviousness

6. His last dialogue is the most awaited of all .......... " Name is Bond.... James Bond"

A must watch if you are or are not a bond fan... carries a license to thrill...

Mon Avis: The Departed

What do you expect when you cast Martin Sheen, Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon, Leonardo De Caperio and Jack Nicholson? What more when these powerhouses are directed by Martin Scorsese!!! A fantastic act of deceit, deception, double cross, Gang war and corruption!! The Departed comes out as a perfect rip off of Hong Kong thriller 'Infernal Affairs' . But this one does one better, this one is Scorsese Style...

More than one plot run in tandem, with double cross looming dangerously in each and Jack Nicholson is conspicuous in both. Both Decaperio and Damon play reassuring moles in Nicholsons Gang and Police department respectively...This is by far Caprio 's best performance (I liked Titanic one better though!!) .. This time he may just be lucky at the Oscars ;)

Caution though, each minute of the film is teeming with the f-word. The entire movie is expletive ridden, from both the bad guys as much as good guys.
Another surprise is Vera Fermiga, who plays a police psychologist and Damon's girlfried, though also taking a night out with her patient Depcaprio.

All in all, a fabulous thriller and a cerebral, gory drama........Must Watch...
