To be honest, the producers, including the stars in the movie were playing a blind while betting on this script. Result : A shockingly disgraceful hand (read : abominable cinema). My wife and I, both having seen Spacey's 21 and thus intrigued by this upcoming movie, still dint have high hopes . But it would be this shoddy, was not imaginable. Bacchan plays a so called genius mathematician whose life is a failure as his research papers are repeatedly turned down for the lack of any practical application. One fine day, he discovers an online 3 patti game and starts scribbling few calculations in the paper and Voila! He can predict the winner. He tests this experiment with another young professor (R Madhavan) and a group of nondescript students who are in it for thrills at first but soon get greedy to the core. Things spiral out of their control and Bacchan is forced to play in response to a blackmail by a mysterious man threatening to kill one of these students who are in the play. Well, lets cut to the chase:
Downs :
- Stupid screenplay: Yes, the screenplay and the sequence of events are horribly stupid and insulting to the viewers, whether or not he/she has seen its ripoff source. Characters keep popping up from nowhere (would you believe that - Tinu Anand, Mahesh Majerakar, Shakti Kapoor, and our own Ajay Devegan) with over-the-top and mindless dialogues. These, along with other characters, have absolutely no contribution to the script. Well, they dont even get eyeballs! Worst of all, there is no description of teen patti the game or even any mathematics remotely attached to it. They even had to rip of the goat problem from 21!
- Bacchan/Kingsley/Madhavan and other unmentionable four - It is heartfelt disappointment to see a legend like Amitabh fall for such an illogical movie. He does his best but even at many instances in the movie, even he is seen blurting some incomprehensible dialogues that do not at all seem character-driven. Kingsley's entire role is is a joke- He is playing some supershot who mouths few of the most senseless dialogues you could ever see in a movie. You need to see this to believe this! Its surprising to see Madhavan seemingly unable to act. Rest of the kids - including Shakti Kapoors daughter Shraddha - are hopelessly shoddy actors.
- Script - There is no logic to the sequences of scenes. One thing just doesn't seem to be connected with the one before. In short, as film makers would love to call it, everything is randomized. :) for example, Kingsley after seen speaking in fluent English in three-fourth of the movie is suddenly dubbed over in Hindi using Boman Irani's voice (Special credit given to him in the movie ! take that!). There are so many loopholes that the list is outside the scope of length of this blog.
- Music - There is none except a back baring bimbo model who tries to get your eyeballs in 'Teri neeyat khaarab hai'
Watching a movie, I have never cringed this much in my seat. I would give it one on ten just because a movie HAS BEEN made - they somehow took the chance.

This book also had its fair share of controversies but it is definitely better than 21 and vis-a-vis "Teen Patti"
i liked the model..total eye candy :D best part of the movie
@ Abhinav - Of course there is no comparison
@ Nachi - I cant agree with you more. And she was an import, as I found out later.
